This law firm tried to take two of our church’s properties in 2021 right after COVID. We are a small (40) member Hispanic church in Peoria, Az. During COVID in 2020 we were not able to pay the property taxes because we were shut down for most of the year and we are a small congregation. The county notified us in 2021 that the Kessler Law Group had filed to take our properties. We immediately raised the funds through donations to pay for the property taxes and then we notified the Kessler Law group we had paid the county taxes. The latter part of last year (2022) we received a law suit summons from this law firm suing us for their expenses in their attempt to take our properties. Being that we are a small Hispanic congregation with limited funds we were not financially able to pay a lawyer to represent us. So Needless to say, this Scottsdale Law firm is taking thousands of dollars from our funds that we had allocated to help the needy this past Christmas, because apparently they just need to get more money. It’s a sad day in Arizona when a wealthy, Anglo firm has to go after a small Hispanic church with the limited resources we use to help the needy, because they feel entitled to our properties and our God given resources. Who would want to hire a firm that does this? May God have mercy on their souls, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy? ?6?:?10? ?NLT??
